Port Stops: Starts in New Orleans, Oak Alley, St. Francisville, Natchez, Vicksburg, Baton Rouge and back to New Orleans
Our cruise features several great cities of the South and true the flavor of Old Fashioned Steamship culture and luxury. Our featured city for this tour is Natchez and their famous
Spring Pilgrimage Tour and Pageant. They hold an open house of the area's plantations and famous homes with their glorious gardens of the Old South
which are beautiful year round, but
during the “Pilgrimage Open House Tour” they are splendid!
As much a part of
Southern culture as historic mansions and plantations, the Pilgrimage
tradition began in the 1940s when members of the garden clubs in
Natchez, Mississippi, began hosting tours of their gardens in the
spring. Later, they also opened their lovely homes, and Pilgrimage
became such a popular idea that it quickly spread throughout the
Mississippi Delta and now is included in our Spring Pilgrimage Cruise
Tour excursion.
You will also experience the annual Historic Natchez Pageant—a musical production presented by more than 200 local performers in elaborate period costumes—you'll receive a “behind-the-columns” glimpse of the
region's romantic past. As our guest, you will be treated to the best of the Old South: its
food, architecture and hospitality when you see the annual
Fascinating speakers, lively entertainment and informative demonstrations will enhance and enrich your understanding of our antebellum legacy. We invite you to come along and enjoy a little Southern comfort along
the Mississippi Delta on our cruise and tour.

Excerpts from Delta Queen Steamboat's Website
about the American Queen The American Queen is without a doubt, The Greatest Steamboat The World Has Ever Known. Within and without, she is grand in
every sense of the word, offering her guests a level of comfort unmatched since the "Golden Age of Steamboatin'!" Inspired by the steamboat and archival
records of more than a century ago, she is grand in every sense of the word, offering the ultimate setting for Steamboatin' at its most opulent. All of her luxurious staterooms are designed to give the feeling
of a gracious Victorian bedroom complete with patterned wallpaper and carpets and period furnishings - many of them genuine antiques. Outside staterooms are embellished with windowed French doors or bay
windows offering sweeping river views.
