"Yawl's"
visit just isn’t complete unless you spend some time to see the
real Florida."
Our
cowpokes are called cowhunters, and they think it’s plum down right insult’n to visit
just the parks and not to meet the folks and see real the real
Florida!
You probably think that the
cowboys out west were our first ranchers! No
Sir.........Florida had the first cattle and horses when they
were left by that feller Ponce De Leon. Read more
below..........
Let us take you on
an unforgettable journey.
Our stage coach (our term for the
modern day motor coach) will pick you up at your hotel or a
nearby hotel or pickup station in Kissimmee or Orlando and take
you on a Florida Safari.
On our tour you have a choice between horseback trail ride
or a swamp buggy
tour at the ranch.
Our
swamp buggy safari tour
starts with a visit first through the Crescent
J Ranch, where you see cattle and horses, both the rare
descendents of those left by the Spanish centuries ago and more
modern breeds. You also see some Florida wildlife – alligators,
turtles, often the colorful wild turkey and many other birds,
depending on the season and weather conditions – and luck. Our
knowledgeable guides
offer a running commentary about that day's sights.
Our horseback trail ride takes you through the back
forests and real trails that our cowhunters on the ranch use.
You sometimes get to see deer and other animals out in the wild
as well as a stop to take the boardwalk into the swamp and hear
about our botanical treasure and possibly see a alligator in his
natural habitat with our cowhunter guide.
We'll treat you right and show you the old
Florida as it looked before "Mickey" hit town. It's green and
doesn't have sidewalks to get you all heated up......though we do
give you a ride that's almost as good as the parks!
You will meet some of our old timers and here stories about
others.
Now "Sam" can pick at fly off your nose at a dead run with his
cow whip, and "Mike" can tell a story about as long as both your
arms. So come and spend some time with a dying breed of
cowhunter's that will keep you laughing, learning and getting a
glimpse of
real Florida like it looked when our pioneers came to settle the
land..
Our wildlife and habitats are going fast and we are trying to
help preserve them and save them for our children. Come and see
our beautiful birds, animals, alligators and natural habitats
that our pioneers called home.
It's a rare thrill to see Florida's most endangered large
mammal, the Florida panther, but some visitors have been so
lucky. Florida black bears, coyotes and bobcats are also
occasionally seen. The most common large mammals on Forever
Florida are the Florida whitetail deer and the feral hogs that
were introduced first by the Spanish and later by American
hunters. The
landscape seems somewhat strange, for good reason – there is
very little left of unspoiled Florida ecosystems any more.
Returning through to the Crescent J and the Visitor Center, you
will be relaxed, smiling
and ready for your lunch at The Cypress Restaurant. A lazy
after-meal break in a rocking chair on the veranda watching the
alligators in the lake marks the end of a perfect day.
The trail ride or the swamp buggy adventure about one and a half hours long and the real treat
is when you return. You'll hear stories of the ranch, the
ranch family along with tales and some good old-fashioned fun.
(Must be age 11 or older for horseback riding.)
